While he was reaching out to Amateur and she turned away from him, Takeda's heart broke a little. And then she started speaking to..... a shadow? The wall? Takeda frowned and called out her name, but she wouldn't reply. She was mumbling something to the wall...... to herself?
"Amateur," he pleaded. "Amateur, listen to me."
But there was nothing. And then she yells out, "JUST GO! Get away from me."
Feeling that these words must be directed at him, Takeda stood abruptly to his feet. "Fine. If that's how you must be amateur, but..... I tried." His voice shakes and he's not sure what to say. "Somehow I knew, when I joined the police force, it would end up like this. With me and you on the opposite sides of the law. And i don't know what's gonna happen now."
He walks in and sits before the chief's desk. "Some thing's really wrong with her, chief. I mean...." He shook his head. "That's not the woman I married. That doesn't even seem like she's a human any longer."
He looks up at his boss. "Chief? CHIEF?"
The chief of police's eyes are bulging, his mouth gapes in silent screams as one hand clutches his heart. His panic-filled eyes meet Takeda's for a second and then he slumps forward onto his desk. Takeda, shaking with fear, grabs him, pulls him up, vaguely he hears his own voice calling for someone to call an ambulance, vaguely he realizes he's screaming, and in the distance he hears a younger cop calling out that the prisoner is escaping.
A cold chill runs through him and he stands up, letting the Chief drop to the ground.
"So this is how it's going to be. I never hoped it would come to this. But here we are. I swear, Amateur, if it's the last thing I do, if I have to die to, I'll catch you. And bring you to justice."
